‘Stolen Freedom’ is a film about the young generation of the Tibetan exile community based in India. It is an effort to show the struggle and turmoil that the Tibetans have gone through in their 52 years of living as refugees. The issue of Tibet has always been in the international news, whether it is the media attention on its leader, the Dalai Lama or the occasional acts of resistance against the Chinese Government by Tibetans in Tibet and in exile.
An identity crisis and a struggle for a stable future when you are not in your own country is something most of us, who are more fortunate than others, have no idea about. This, in the context of a youth driven freedom movement and a fight for cultural survival, co-exists very much with us, in the Tibetan refugee community in India.
